Wednesday, January 10th to Friday, January 12th

Hello

Students have started their speech presentations this week and will continue to work on these until Mid Winter Break. Their good copies need to be ready for Mid Winter Break so that they will have time to practice their speeches. Speeches are 3 - 5 minutes in length, on a topic of their choice. This is a MAJOR MARK for term two. They will be presenting their speeches the week when we return from Mid Winter. Work hard and practice.

Today we are completing Unit 4, in our Math Makes Sense, on Fractions and Decimals. We have been working towards the test today, over the past month. Some students are beginning to fall behind on their math and are losing too many marks. It is essential that your math is kept up-to-date. Congratulations to Hailey T. who received the top math mark over the past month! Keep up the good work! We are starting Unit 5 - Data Management on Friday!

Spelling Unit 14 - Exercises due tomorrow, with Dictation to follow.

Novel Study - I am also missing a number of Chapter Question Good Copies from Chapters 1-10. This is a major part of your reading mark for term 2. They will not be accepted after Monday, January 15th.

A FINAL REMINDER THAT ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY ARE NECESSARY FOR SUCCESS! CLASSES AND TIME MISSED = GAPS IN LEARNING!

Thanks
Mr. Hickey

Hello

Tonights homework is focussed on Multiplying Fractions, pages 151 - 155, #1-10. Students are brining home a Fraction Spinner to aid with question #6.

Also students should make sure their Language Power is up to date as I will be marking up to approximately lesson 40 over the holiday season!

We also worked on our Newspaper Ariticles in the computer lab for almost 2 hours. These will be due after our next computer period. If students need some more information, they should be gathering this at home so that it is ready to be put into their article.

Skate-a-thon tomorrow! Remember your skates (and helmet if you need one?).

I am still missing a few report cards sheets, which are now a week and a half late. Please send them in immediately.

Thanks
Mr. H
