Monday, January 15th to Tuesday, January 16th

Hello

This week's work!

1) We are spending a great deal of time this week, working towards completing our speeches. I would like them completed so that students have plenty of time to practice and memorize their speeches over the Mid Winter Break.

2) We started Unit 5 math on Friday and worked through Lesson 5.1. Also, Math tests for Unit 4 were completed and marked. Students are to bring their tests home to have them signed by parents/guardians please.

3) Spelling Lesson 15 - Dictionary only this week! We will continue with the exercises and dictation after Mid Winter.

4) HATCHET GOOD COPY CHAPTER QUESTIONS FOR 11-15 ARE DUE THURSDAY, JANUARY 18th. To date I only have a few good copies that were handed in on time for lessons 1-10. This is a major part of your reading mark for term two.

5) Please remember to bring in High School option sheets and return the meeting sheets that were handed out.

Thanks
Mr. Hickey

Wednesday, January 10th to Friday, January 12th

Hello

Students have started their speech presentations this week and will continue to work on these until Mid Winter Break. Their good copies need to be ready for Mid Winter Break so that they will have time to practice their speeches. Speeches are 3 - 5 minutes in length, on a topic of their choice. This is a MAJOR MARK for term two. They will be presenting their speeches the week when we return from Mid Winter. Work hard and practice.

Today we are completing Unit 4, in our Math Makes Sense, on Fractions and Decimals. We have been working towards the test today, over the past month. Some students are beginning to fall behind on their math and are losing too many marks. It is essential that your math is kept up-to-date. Congratulations to Hailey T. who received the top math mark over the past month! Keep up the good work! We are starting Unit 5 - Data Management on Friday!

Spelling Unit 14 - Exercises due tomorrow, with Dictation to follow.

Novel Study - I am also missing a number of Chapter Question Good Copies from Chapters 1-10. This is a major part of your reading mark for term 2. They will not be accepted after Monday, January 15th.

A FINAL REMINDER THAT ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY ARE NECESSARY FOR SUCCESS! CLASSES AND TIME MISSED = GAPS IN LEARNING!

Thanks
Mr. Hickey
