Tuesday, February 26th to Wednesday, February 27th

Hello

Yesterday we had some issues to deal with in terms of work habits, behaviour, and homework. More specifically I had to talk to students about our "hands off policy", simple rules such as "being where you are suppose to be", "no gum" and more importantly "RESPECT FOR OTHER STUDENTS AND TEACHERS". We also discussed the importance of putting a full effort into school every single day, which includes completing homework assignments. Today seems to be a better day in terms of these issues, however there are still some students not completing all of their assigned work. REPORT CARDS MARKS WILL BE GOING INTO THE COMPUTERS OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. Next week on Thursday afternoon we will be having a school skate and hockey game for the students who are putting a full effort into all of these areas. Let's work towards the goal of having a fun day, like next Thursday, for all students.

Tuesday's work:
1) Completed two S.R.A. activities (handed in books for marking)
2) Starting Unit 6 Math - Skills You'll Need Questions 1 - Homework & read next Lesson 6.1
3) Starting Lesson 19 - Spelling Words 5X & Exercises
4) Missed extra gym due to behaviour and homework (worked on Math instead)

Wednesday's work:
1) Started Lesson 6.1 Math - Questions 1-6 are homework
2) Extra Computers - worked on Math Review Disk focusing on areas we have already completed.
3) Worked on Crime Stopper Posters (due Friday)

A reminder that the Group A (boys) will be travelling to the Library on Friday. I only have four permission form for this group handed in.

Thanks
Mr. Hickey

Thursday, February 5th

Hi

With only five students here today (due to the PALS ski trip) we were able to get some extra time in D & T to work on their bridges. We also had time in the computer lab with Mrs. Montours class, working on a Math Program and reviewing everything we have done to date.

A reminder that the dance is tomorrow afternoon. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR HOMEWORK COMPLETED AND HANDED IN TO GO TO THE DANCE!!!

It is also RED and Pink day tomorrow, so show your school spirit.

See you tomorrow!

Wednesday - Friday, February 1st

Wow, buses cancelled two days in one week!!! Well I guess it couldn't have happened at a better time because I can't get rid of this cold!!!
Speech presentations were completed on Thursday, with a few standing out. An outstanding speech on "the end of the world" was completed by Holden! Another very good speech on "Karma" was completed by Ranndi. And an interesting speech on "Teenagers" was completed by Whitney. Great work! Holden and Ranndi have been chosen to represent Class 8.1 next week in the speech competition.

A reminder that Math Lesson 5.4 is homework this weekend. MEAN, MEDIAN and MODE

Have a great snowy weekend.

Mr. Hickey
