Hello

Well today was a much better day for homework completion, as we went from 0% to 100% overnight! The Rememberance Day assembly was a great success, with excellent, respectful behaviour show to all of the Veterans. During the afternoon we had our trip to Grand River Polytech, where student researched, discussed, and gathered information regarding different trades related to Universities and College. Once again excellent work habits were displayed. WAY TO GO!! Make sure to have all of your information for tomorrow to develop our Information Board related to Architecture and Construction.

Tonights homework is Spelling Lesson 8 Exercises (first 2 sections) and anything else that is needed to be caught up on!

Thanks
Mr. Hickey

Tuesday, November 7th to Wednesday, November 8th

Hello Again

Sorry I didn't get a chance to update the blog last night as my computer was down at my house. Yesterday was a good work day to complete our Halloween Units which will now be due on Friday, November 10th, because today we have our Rememberance Day Assembly and our trip to Grand River Post Secondary this afternoon. Although yesterday was a good day for work in class, it was not for our Homework in terms of the Math Review. Everyone had to stay in at lunch on detention to complete this assignment. Students had approximately an hour the day before to work on this, which was a great time to ask any questions about specific questions that they may still be having difficulty with! "I didn't know how to do it", is not an excuse for not having EVERYTHING done or at least ATTEMPTED! Also, this was a Review with all examples in our Math Makes Sense workbooks, which we talked about extensively in-class.

If students have work that they do not understand, they need to come see me for extra help at lunch or after school BEFORE the work is due!!! I have also talked about the Homework Support Program available at Six Nations Polytech on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm, as another after school support.

If parents have any questions please don't hesitate to call! I have made a few calls home, talked with a few parents, and left a few messages to please call me back at the school 445-2256.

REPORT CARDS are not long off!

Thanks
Mr. M. Hickey

I have also sent home sheets regarding the Grand River Post Secondary Information Day, on Wednesday, November 8th, from 1pm-3pm. Every student will be attending as they need to gather information regarding a CAREER COMMUNITY, so that we can develop an information board.

Thanks

Hello

This is the first official blog in terms of classroom work that should be completed. Monday - took up Minds on Math, Order of Operations, pages 25 - 28, # 1-12. (only 5 students with homework completed - all else stayed in at lunch). We are looking to improve on this greatly as Class Time plus a little homework = success! From here we worked on pages 29 - 32, #1-6 which I will be marking today on Using Models to Solve Equations. Thursday and Friday will be pages 34 - 39, # 1 - 11 on Using Algebra Tiles to Solve Equations. (Students also had their first test last Friday, which I am continuing to finish with a few this week). Spelling is Lesson 4 - Dictionary on Monday, Sentences on Tuesday, Exercises on Wednesday and Thursday (due Friday) and Dictation on Friday. Students need to study for Friday dictation and make sure all work is kept up weekly. Our novel study, The Outsiders, is going well. We are up to Chapter 7 with questions and activities that follow. For Language Power, students should finish Lessons 10-12 by Friday. Finally, we will be continuing to finish our Autobiographies on Thursday, as students are learning how to do a Powerpoint presentation which they will present to the class. I will be updating this blog almost nightly, so please use this as an extra tool. Thanks Mr. Hickey.
