Math-Pages 82-85, #1-10 was marked today as well.

Spelling Lesson 9 - Students were to memorize their lesson words over the past week! NOT TOO MANY DID THIS from your marks! Lesson 10 will be the same format. Memorize all 20 words for next Friday!! You have one week to do this.
Exercises will be marked on Monday for Lesson 9.

Hello Again

Yesterday the students had a very successful trip to Hagersville High School, Red and Black Day, that hopefully gave some insight into the daily routine of Grade 9 and up.

The Halloween units that we worked on for 3 weeks were handed in and marked out of 200. Only 2 students out of 26 received a mark over 80% on these units. This will be used towards students writing, reading, & oral and visual communication marks on their report cards.

2) SALES TAX, DISCOUNT, AND COMMISSION 2.6 - Pages 78 - 81, #1-12

Wednesday, November 8th

Hello

Well today was a much better day for homework completion, as we went from 0% to 100% overnight! The Rememberance Day assembly was a great success, with excellent, respectful behaviour show to all of the Veterans. During the afternoon we had our trip to Grand River Polytech, where student researched, discussed, and gathered information regarding different trades related to Universities and College. Once again excellent work habits were displayed. WAY TO GO!! Make sure to have all of your information for tomorrow to develop our Information Board related to Architecture and Construction.

Tonights homework is Spelling Lesson 8 Exercises (first 2 sections) and anything else that is needed to be caught up on!

Thanks
Mr. Hickey

Tuesday, November 7th to Wednesday, November 8th

Hello Again

Sorry I didn't get a chance to update the blog last night as my computer was down at my house. Yesterday was a good work day to complete our Halloween Units which will now be due on Friday, November 10th, because today we have our Rememberance Day Assembly and our trip to Grand River Post Secondary this afternoon. Although yesterday was a good day for work in class, it was not for our Homework in terms of the Math Review. Everyone had to stay in at lunch on detention to complete this assignment. Students had approximately an hour the day before to work on this, which was a great time to ask any questions about specific questions that they may still be having difficulty with! "I didn't know how to do it", is not an excuse for not having EVERYTHING done or at least ATTEMPTED! Also, this was a Review with all examples in our Math Makes Sense workbooks, which we talked about extensively in-class.

If students have work that they do not understand, they need to come see me for extra help at lunch or after school BEFORE the work is due!!! I have also talked about the Homework Support Program available at Six Nations Polytech on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm, as another after school support.

If parents have any questions please don't hesitate to call! I have made a few calls home, talked with a few parents, and left a few messages to please call me back at the school 445-2256.

REPORT CARDS are not long off!

Thanks
Mr. M. Hickey

Hello Again

Hope everyone enjoyed the three days off with the PD Day on Friday. It was a great chance for students to catch up on any work which they may be missing, as report card time is very near. Today we are completing our second Language Power Test, that everyone should have studied for!!! We are also working on Lesson 8 in our Canadian Speller Program and completing the Mid Unit Math Review on page 69, # 1-11 that is due tomorrow.

I have also sent home sheets regarding the Grand River Post Secondary Information Day, on Wednesday, November 8th, from 1pm-3pm. Every student will be attending as they need to gather information regarding a CAREER COMMUNITY, so that we can develop an information board.

Thanks
Mr. M. Hickey
